Welcome Ed. Glad that you are here. There are a lot of articles that can set every thing in clear to understand language. I would say that the most important thing is to make the top with what i call particle board. Should be at least two, or three 3/4 in pieces laminated together.No crowns, or mate the crowns so they hold each other straight. There will be others along to give you good answers.
