Sounds like you have made up your mind to get the bandsaw but if you are a beginner I would not add a band saw to your shop until you have a lot of other items.... since I don't know what you have I can not say if this is the tool you need next. If you want to do some curved cuts and you don't have one a good jig saw would be a better idea.... This sort of hand-held tool will be useful even if you decide woodworking is not for you.... it then becomes a handyman tool for jobs around the house.
