Yes, I have used the magnet way, the one I use is about 6" in dia.and about 3" thick, the next time I do it I will take some snapshots..
The magnet I use will pull your buttons off your pants or shorts
I use them all over the shop, they hold my hack saw to the work bench (on the side of it) hand saws,drill bits,hammers, you name I use a magnet to hold it in place not to talk about welding jobs,ground lead,etc. great welding jig parts holders..
