It's hard to get what want but you need to start at some point and in a year or two you will know that the 6" is right for now, the jointer is one of the tools you will use all the time once you get one and I'm sure you will say I don't know how I got along with out it.

I think you will use it for edging most of your stock and not to much for getting the stock flat and true most of the stock you will buy will be done but once you rip the stock it needs to be redone on the edge ...there is nothing like having the stock flat and true on the edges it can be just a simple box and all the parts are right on the button and just a smoooooooth a baby bottom...the 1st time you pass a board on the router table you will say WOW this is the only way to do it...
