There is not a thing wrong with the Rockler table top. The clearance table for $50 is an exceptional value. Building your own table is not difficult, installing the mounting plate can be tricky. My first table was very nice, built from the plans in ShopNotes #1. I installed a Rousseau mounting plate using their installation template and mounting kit and it was flawless and problem free. A friend came by as I was wiping on the polyshades finish for the red oak trim and bought it on the spot, back to square one. It's hard to say no to a nice profit but at times I wish I had kept that first table. It marked the begining of my routing in earnest, a true "benchmark".(pun intended)
