OK, I received NO replies to my question so I did remove the chip deflectors and found another problem. The Tritons collet has a larger outside diameter than my other routers and I cannot raise the bit height enough when a guide bushing is used. I don't like to move the bit shank up from the bottom of the router shaft more than a few thousanths (for heat expansion) so that is only a last resort. I will try some of my other, smaller collets to see if the threads match and I can use them on the Triton.
