I had made the across grain pass and was half way into the with grain pass when the motor, with the bit still in the chuck dropped down into the table (out of the base) and then all (&*^%&%$) broke loose. It would appear that the base cracked and let go of the motor. Hard to tell now. Anyone that knows me, knows that I am pretty anal retentive when it comes to being safe and double checking everything, as I did on this occassion.

All in all, I think it could have been much worse. The router went away from me, and not toward me.
