You finally hit on something - that would make me lean toward -getting a plate vs just mounting router to the table like I always have.

I have never had any problems changing bits with the router in place -- and reaching under the table to adjust depth is not that big a deal ---
But thinking about the way I like to work -- being able to set the depth with the router on its side rather than having to lean down and look across the table --
That has its appeal.

I was going to have to redrill my table for my new Craftsman ---
Thinking I may finally spring for a plate instead.
