Default A use for 'skis'

The way I like to work -- and the work I do -- I very rarely do anything that would really benefit from the 'skis' much beloved by BJ and others.
BUT -- in all fairness -- today I did.

Making lap joints in the ends of 8' 2x6's
that meant taking 3/4" off of the last 5.5" on each end.
Did it in 2 passes 3/8" at a time.
First pass was fine -- because there was always wood for the router to sit on.
Occured to me as I started the second pass -- there was nothing handy to support my router on the last couple of inches.
And I thought how handy BJ's skis would be.

No -- I didnt stop and go to the store and buy the parts and build them.
Figured out a way I could do it by making the second pass in two stages.

BUT - IF I had had the skis -- I would definitely have cleared off my bench - taken the boards inside and used them.

Not trying to rehash any old debates -- just giving credit where it is due.
I've always said the ski idea was great for those who were doing jobs that needed it --
normally - that is not me
well -- today it was.
