Birch,
one of the best things I like about pocket holes is when I'm making jigs or fixtures that will be used once and then destroyed. glue them up, clamp them with the pocket hole screw, then when the glue dries, pull the pocket hole screws out. No risk of running a blade or bit into a brad, and no ackward clamping.
You can also make adjustable jigs, etc by using screws instead of nails. The washer head ones are great for that.
