Hey Guys My name is Will and I am new to routering - so new that I am still up in the air about which one to buy.
I like the Dewalt Fixed / Plunge Combo (Lowes - $219.00).
I like that the bases have the quick release, since I am planning on mounting the fixed base into a router table (which one of these days I need to build - told ya I was new to routering). I have a 2ft x 5ft coutertop that I am going to use, I also have a drawer that I want to place under the router cabinet.
I have looked all over the internet and found plans, and have designed a table / cabinet that I believe would work - one half for the router, double doors under the router (for mounting and dust collecting - also have a plan for a shop vac to attached to this project), then the drawer. The other half would be used for free handed routing with a clamping system to secure the piece. Under would be double doors with a shelf dividing the storage space.
I was thinking 1/4" plywood for the sides and 3/8" thick / 2" wide pine for the trim.
Well, it's about time I visit the other posts and see what I can learn from you all to make routering an enjoyable and worthwhile experience.
