Well, a little about myself.
I first got introduced to woodworking in high school, back in the dark ages, when shop was required for the boys and home ec for the girls. I got to build a bookcase out of pine. Then, as luck would have it, the rules changed mid year. I had to decide between shop and science courses. I wanted shop...my dad wanted science. Guess who won.
Fast forward to 2005, close to 40 years later. We started off 11 years earlier with a two car garage when we purchased this house. Over that time frame, more and more junk moved into the garage. First one car, then the other moved outside. It had become a dark and scary place, full of junk and Black Widow spiders.
During a week of vacation, I decided enough was enough. I hauled 5 trunk loads of junk to the dump and killed around 30 spiders. Purchased shelving to get what was left off the floor and into some kind of organization. I had a launan door I had purchased for a project that never got off the ground. I hated to throw it away and decided to make a "workbench" top out of it.
A quick trip to Harbor Freight to buy a cheap mitre saw (why get an expensive one? I was only gonna build the table and replace some rotted trim around a couple of windows) and several 2x4's from HD and I build it. But then I remembered how I had enjoyed that short shop class time in high school. I was hooked.
So I have slowly been buying equipment as I can save up and get things. (I'm not rich and this seems to be a very expensive hobby!) I first purchased a cheap Sears combo bench router table and router. I used that for a couple of years. My pride and joy is the Rockler offset router table and Incra jig that my wife got me for this past Christmas. I added a Porter Cable 895 combo kit to it.
I haven't turned out many projects yet. I would probably still be ranked as a beginner. But I hope to improve on that this year.
