Hi Deck
To use a door as a drop down is the way to go. I built a four foot drop down on the far end of the 16' work bench. I glued two 3/4" plys and used a piano hinge. Every thing is great BUT, But my nice long bench with storage and all -- IS TO HIGH -- I did not think properly and some day I will have to take it apart and lower it to the same height as table saw etc. It pays to think ahead.
