Welcome Bev. The best way to advance in woodworking is to find a group to work with. There are many local clubs around the country, and having an extra pair of hands really makes some jobs easier. Check at your local woodworking store like Rockler or Woodcraft for groups. Routing can be done many different ways but my idea of the best way is what Bob and Rick have been saying for years: "Simple is better."
