For me, it would all depend on the vehicle (and its intended use). I sold an old MG a couple of years ago and cannot imagine driving a sports car with an auto trans. On the other hand, when I bought my truck, I had to use it to commute 45 miles into Atlanta and I insisted on auto. I can't imagine owning a Jeep with auto, nor a sedan with manual. My wife grew up with stick shift and for years, my mother insisted on a car with three-on-the-tree.
