Hi Meldgaard: I've just taken a look at the parts blowup of the M12V. There is another version the M12S. Compare the parts diagrams for the two routers and you'll see that the very top of the router is the difference between the two. It might be a simple fix but explore further before sticking your neck out.

M12V is still in their supported inventory. Find the parts and manual for it at Hitachi.us or your local version.

At this point, I'd call Customer Support at Hitachi and ask them how to do what you want. They're usually pretty helpful.
