I understood the calculator was intended for use on our projects, with our plans. If this is the case, the type of jointery used will be of our choosing, and the type of jointery will determine the finished size of the pieces. So if box joints are used, the dimensions of the pieces would be longer than if combination or rabbet joints were chosen instead. If the top and bottom were inset with rabbet joints rather than overlayed, the finished dimensions for each would be different as well, don't you agree? As I see it, the calculator only calculates correctly for combination or rabbet joints on the sides and overlayed top and bottom. While I think the calculator is great for what it does now, I'd like to have the flexibility in the calculator to choose jointery I want to use.

Reason for the calculators: I am presently designing a website that is a place to learn how to use the router from the beginning. It will have specific lessons built around specific wood joints and router operations. Each lesson will build on past experiences and each new project will address a new router technique and/or operation. We want to provide lessons that teach others the way we learned how to use the router. In regards to the calculators, I think to start we will be focusing on the newbee, which means we will be selecting the design, the router operations, and wood joints to be used on the selected design.
