Are you taking about the screwed on oem base one the bottom of your router or after market?

A lot of the router sub bases are either Acrylic (clear) or Phenolic (black). These plastic bases allow the router to move freely across the wood, and are reasonably inexpensive to replace when they are scuffed up and worn.
