Default Vacuum system on/off .....

I keep seeing Bob and Rick reaching down and turning the vacuum on and off, are a lot of you doing that?

The reason I ask is that sometime ago I picked up what was called a power tap at a Sears hardware store. It has Craftsman on the front and is gray. I have one on my computer system to turn on and off printers/scanner/etc when I turn the computer on, and another for my router table.

On the router table I have a power strip into which I plug the power tap. The power tap has two accessory and one power tool outlet. I put a short dropcord in to the power tool plug and the router gets plugged into the end of the drop cord. In one of the accessory plugs I plug in the vacuum.

When the power is turned on the router the vacuum automaticly turns on (the power switch on the vacuum is left in the on position). Now I spend more time thinking about what I'm doing with the router and less about did I or didn't turn on the vacuum.

Anyone else have a system like this? Any other sources of this sort of power tap?

Thats what I use on my table saw and on my radial arm saw. I have a shop vac dedicated for each of these two machines as I frequently move back and forth between the two. I have a third vac that I move around to the router table, band saw, mitre saw, etc. Peter

I use an X10 appliance module and a remote control with my DC system, but it would be much more convenient to be able to turn on the TS, CSMS or RT and have the DC turn on automatically.
