Hi everybody, I'm looking for a accurate router guide. The company went out of business the first of the year. Rockler handled the product until the supply ran out. Manntool handled it too but their out too.
I was hoping someone had one and could tell me where to get one or give me some specs. so I could build one.
The newwoodworking site e-mailed that someone might take over making the tool but don't know who and when
Thanks for any help Ace 01

Hi Ace

Many router guides can be made by you and are better than the ones you can buy..

That maybe why the company didn't make it, many router users make one or two because they are easy to make and are more accurate than the ones that come with the router kits..or you can buy.

If you do a search on the forum you will see many shop made ones...
If you don't find any just ask and one of the members will give you a hand finding one or two..

The accurate dado guide works so well for the odd size plywood you get today it looked like a good deal. With this guide you use a half inch down spiral bit run thru with that. Loosen clamp install a piece of scrap plywood the from the plywood your using install between the bars and run it thru again and the dado comes out the correct size.
Thanks again Ace 01

Hi Ace

You may want to take a peek at the one below, it's a accurate dado guide because you can use the RIGHT bit for the plywood you are using, one pass and you got it done.

Bob, you are saying that with a 1/2 bit and one slide down and one slide back up you get a 22/32 dado cut?

Hi Corey

Make one pass with a 15/32 bit and it should let the 1/2" plywood fit right in.
And it's true for the 23/32" bit also it should let the 3/4" plywood drop in and be tight, one pass should do the trick..
But now days they are using smaller plywood sometimes.,to save money in the Mfg.of the plywood...

Straight Plywood 3 pc. Set 1/2

* Make your dadoes fit better with these straight bits sized for modern plywood
* Set includes 7/32", 15/32" and 23/32" and a wooden box
* 1/2" shank

Hi Ace: Check out Micro Fence, It works with a micrometer as part of the fence. It's accurate down to the 1000th of an inch. They are at www.microfence.com
It does take two passes with a small bit. Woodnut65

When making dado cuts for plywood you should measure the thickness of the plywood and use the correct size bit for a single pass. Plywood bits that match the undersize are available from many suppliers and are not expensive. A single pass with the proper bit is your best bet for an exact fit. Making multiple passes increases the likelyhood of a sloppy fit.

Thanks guys for all the suggestions, but I'm working with plywood sheets 24'' wide and 7' 6'' long and .015 under 3/4'' so I have to do this freehand. I checked all my sheets of plywood and they are pretty much the same.
I made a copy of the accurate guide out of oak which will probably work ok now but might change with the change in humidity.
Thanks again Ace 01
