The Grainger catalog shows a few flexible mount bench lamps with magnifying. I would avoid anything with fluorescent bulbs like the plague because of the flicker.

When designing my shop, the folks at Griot's Garage helped me lay out the HID lights for the ceiling. Pure white light, but noisy if your ceiling height is less than 20 feet or so. For task lighting above the bench, I got a few tubular halogen fixtures sold on special order from hardware stores.

I'm real persnikity about lighting in the work environment. Griots used print a tutorial on shop lighting in their catalog, but I think they've stopped selling lighting. You need to pay heed to the color of the light, flickering, shadows, the spread, warm up time, noise of ballasts. A few of the Grainger magnifying lights use Halogen, which is a good start. Harsh shadows are a problem for single-bulb fixtures. They sell dual bulb models.
