Default Base Plate

Hi everyone,

I just ordered the Freud FT2200E from woodcraft. I want to get an Oak Park Table Top. They have a base plate for the FT2000 & FT2000E. Will This plate fit the FT2200E? For the center hole they have a 1 1/2" hole and a 3 1/8" hole. Which one, do I go with? Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi,Dean

If you can get both ,,, if not get the 3 1/8" one and you can make your own inserts to fit the 3 1/8" hole...

"Will This plate fit the FT2200E?" b/4 you place your order on the 800 number besure to ask that same question they will know for sure..

Thanks Bob,
I called Oak Park, They said the FT2000 & FT2000E base plate would not match up to the FT2200E. But, I had them send the base plate with just the center hole. I also purchase a center ring, ($4),to help make sure I mark the drill hole right, and hopefully I will drill them right. You think that will be OK?

Hi Dean

You beat ,that should work just fine

Why you are in a hold pattern waiting for the base plate take one of the screws out of the router and take it down to the ACE hardware store and pickup 4 or 5 screws the same size, then cut off the heads and then chuck them up it your battery drill and grind the screw to a point (cone point) then when you get the base plate and the brass setup ring screw the new cone point screws into the router then chuck up pin and set the plate in place and then tap the plate with a hammer this will mark the spot you need to drill out the mounting holes,,,,and they will be dead on...

If I recall right the screw size for the Freud is 8mm...

Thats exactly the info I needed. I was wondering how to mark for the drill holes.

Thanks again!

Send a message via Yahoo to Fourleftpaws

Bob - that is great information - I also was looking for a way to mark a base plate for a different router - that I can not find a base plate for.
Thanks from me too!

You'er Welcome Dean and FLP

It's one of the install tips I got from Marc Sommerfeld of
( http://www.sommerfeldtools.com/ ) I saw and it blew me away and it stuck in my mind, I now see others are doing it the same way..

It's nice to share with others, it's like pass it on thing and I sure you will

It's so simple and it works so well and it's hard to fail with this trick now you have the trick you can make all the base plates you will need ,(small ones and big ones) with a 1 1/2" drill bit and a 1 3/4" bit you can put in the pocket to hold the Oak Park type brass guides.
