| Retired Moderator Supreme Forum King  | Tim, if your going to be doing a bunch of big bits like panel raisers, rail and stile bits and things of that nature then a 3 HP router is needed. If you will only on occasion use a large bit then a 2 1/4 HP router will probably work ok for you and most people if you take little bites with it. I have a 3 HP plus router in my table but have never really put a bit in this one that I coudln't use my 2 HP router with. But if you plan on doing a bunch of big work... get a bigger router.
