Default Question about DeWalt DW618PK

Help,

I just purchased a new DeWalt DW618PK combo and while unpacking and admiring my new toy I found what looks like a spare subbase but the hole in the center is larger than the subbases on the fixed and plunge base, what is this base for? Also does anyone know if DeWalt honors the $40 rebate if router is purchased from Lowes?

Thanks

Texan

Hi Texan, I got the same kit just last week ... yes, for sure you're qualified for the $40 rebate, Lowes is indeed one of their authorized dealers, although they do not volunteer (nor even advertize) the available $40 rebate -- I donlt think they even have the Rebate Form! Just make sure you'll submit with the ORIGINAL reciept as the Rebate Form indicates.

I'm NOOB in router / routing, no idea what it's for ... wild guess: for some very large bit?

Okay update on my DW618PK router combo. I called Ridgid rebate center and was told the $40 rebate would not be honored if bought from Lowes this came from corporate rep. He said Home Depot would be honored but Lowes opted out of the promo. So back to Lowes it went and now I am proud owner of Ridgid R2930 combo for $179 and totally satisfied..

Texan, your purchase of Ridgid router aside, the answer you got sounds unreasonable... do you actually have the DeWalt Rebate Form? I have the form e-mailed to me from DeWalt, it clearly says "... obtained legitimately through authorized DeWalt channels and retailers ..." No mentioned of any exclusion of certain dealership or reference any "opt out" possibility..

anyhoo... I dunno how the distributorship works, but it just all sounded fishy ...

I've read good reviews on the Ridgid combo, enjoy them.. I have their TS and a sander, they are well built, but no nother beats their lifetime warranty...

Cheers.

Wagon Man,
On the rebate form it says combo purchased from an Independent supplier this evidently excludes Lowes for this particular rebate, I am thinking you would eventually get rebate if you held out long enough I was just not willing to spend the time and frustration. Besides I am more than satisfied with my Ridgid Router.
