I have an oak tree which was cut a month ago. Can I use it to do crown moldings to decorate my kitchen cabinets?

I wouldn't, the tree has not aged.

It has to be sawn and air dried or kiln dried. Someone else may be able to give you the time frame, or may have a different opinion.

After being sawn and stickered, the rule of thumb is about 1 yrs. drying time for each inch of thickness. Of course this will vary depending on the type of wood and the surroundings.

OK, I understand that the tree has to be aged. Just wondering: what will happen to my moldings if I cut them from not aged tree?

If the moisture content is high in the wood it will warp or twist as it dries.

Will not be pretty, the wood will crack and warp. You can not finish it or seal it as the wood still has moisture in it. Not recommended!
