Hi Woodchuck 69. Good luck with your cabinet project. You can definitely save some money making your own cabinets if you have the tools to get it done. If you have to go out and buy most of the tools then you will probably not be ahead. Then again... maybe you are trying to bone up the shop with tools as well Who are we to deny a fellow chippy that! If you are ok in the tool and fixture department then the Major consideration is how many cabinets will you need to make and how much room do you have. In my garage shop there was jut no way I would have room for 12 or more cabinets in various stages of construction and finish. It just wasn't possible. I considered just doing the uppers first and then the lowers but the same situation existed... not enough required room. Hope it goes well and welcome to the forums!

Corey

Hi Woodchuck 69

Just my 2 cents, kitchen cabinets,,,,,they can be hard to make if you don't cut a corner or two
The doors are the hard part,,,,,BUT you can find them for 10.oo ea.or less with just a bit of looking around at 2nd.hand wood shops, sometimes called over runs.

The cabinets can be had the same way or you can make them with ven. plywood and then put a nice face frame on them to hold the doors and drawers......
You don't need top spend 5,000.oo dollars or more to rework a kitchen....or weeks do this type of job.

Just as a side Note*** I found a place in Denver that got in 17 truck loads of cabinet doors and cabinets,(over runs) they are going for 2.oo to 15.oo ea. for the doors and the cabinets are going from 10.oo to 30.oo ea. all in hardwood that's hard to beat, less then the stock would cost.
So to say let your fingers do the walking (yellow pages in your town)
