Hi folks, my name is Geoff and I hail from Perth, Western Australia. Been playing with timber for many years building a bit of furniture here and there, some workshop jigs and all sorts of things, mostly just for fun. I like to try lots of different projects, have had pretty good reults with most things I've tackled, but am a master of none. I've got a lot of learning to do before I get anywhere near that status, if ever. That's why I'm really happy to have stumbled upon this forum as, from what I've seen so far, I think it will be a great educational site for me and will help me to improve my skills and knowledge. I've got a fairly basic workshop and, as it happens, my favourite tools are my routers and homebuilt router table. I've got four routers and am on my third home built router table with which I think I've finally got it right. Anyway, looking forward to a fruitful association with this forum and it's members. Cheers Geoff

Hey Forunna Have come across your moniker on the U-Beaut forum before today. Noticed in another thread that you're from Darling Downs. I'm not far away in Mount Richon. MIght get to say G'Day in person some time over a sherbert or two. Seeya Geoff

G'day Geoff. Welcome to the Router Forums. Always glad to have another Aussie on our forum. We have a wide variety of skill levels here but we are one level. We all love woodworking. You aren't a pom are you? I noticed that you said you have a basic WORKSHOP. I thought all Aussie's called them sheds. ![]()

We do Dave but it seems that we are all trying to translate so that you can understand us. I think that Mike is the only one that has developed a good understanding of "real" English. It appears that new sub-divisions are opening up in Perth at a fast rate of knots, I lived in Thornlie for over 35years and Rockingham for the last four and a half and have never heard of those two suburbs. As an aside have you two Sandgropers attended the Saturday morning demos at Timbecon? I used to be there every Saturday. Enjoy the forum.

Hi Dave No, not a pom. Aussie born and bred. I used the term 'workshop', but it is actually what we usually call a shed. I wasn't sure if anyone on the forum would understand me if I started using the Aussie vernacular. We also call timber 'timber' whilst you guys call it lumber and we work in metric units whilst you still use feet and inches. Fortunately I was alive well before we went metric so I understand both, although, having experienced both, there's no doubt in my mind that metric units are much easier. If you start talking feet and inches to young people here, they think you're from another planet. We might have to start a thread one day and try to teach you (youse, y'all, you lot) some Aussie slang. Youse all can 'ave a look (butcher's, geckko, gawk) and perhaps have a bit of a laugh. Thanks for your welcome. It's appreciated. Cheers Geoff

Hi Harry I've attended a lot of the demos at Timbecon so it's likely that we've met there at some time. I also go to all the Woodworking shows at the Claremont Showgrounds, although I've never managed to get there when the U-Beaut forum members have met there. If some sort of meeting is arranged this year, I'll definitely make sure I'm there at the right time. It should be next month I think. Cheers
