Welcome to the forum Jim, you can be sure that most of us will be envious of the size of you're workshop. If you've been peeping into the forum you would know that we enjoy photo shoots during the making of projects so that we can all improve our skills. I look forward to seeing you as a regular poster in the future.

Jim, welcome to the forums. A project you might really enjoy is Woodcrafts Civil war lantern. I believe it was from the first issue of Woodcraft magazine. This is authentic in all respects except the glass is not hand blown. Even this is not a problem for the yankees since commercial glass was available in the north then. Here is a photo of one I made.

Thanks for the picture, i have made several of these in the past, some with plain glass and some with 3 out of 4 panes done with stained glass.

Hi Jim,
My name is Jim also. I am 61 and retired from 3M. I also got started in woodworking at a very young age. My father died when I was 7, but I was fortunate enough to have a sister 17 years older then my self. She married a wood pattern maker who work for American Motors a he instilled in me a love for woodworking of all kinds. Like you, I now have the time to pursue whatever I want.
