Default Introduction

Hi, I build reproduction 18th C. cannnon carriages for a living. It also allows me to do some blacksmithing and wheelwrighiting. My hobbies are "Blacksmithing and Antique restoration" I prefer Porter Cable routers, because they are extra heavy duty and stand up to making deep routings in white oak, green and air dried. At home I use a dainty 1-3/4 hp craftsman plunge router. It works fine for me. On my router table I have an old Black and decker 1-1/2 that is still going strong. Now at home I do not use a router all that much and at work it is pretty much chamfers and straight bits. I hope to pick up a trick or two from this site. I happen to find this site by accident searching for a new router online. Well that's my story. Nice to meet everyone. Vince

Vince, welcome to our happy forum, there is always someone ready, willing and able to answer most questions. Would it be possible to post some photographs of you're work?, it sounds intriguing.

18th C. cannons carriages for a "living". I didn't realize there was that big of demand for them. Anyhow, welcome to the Router Forums Vince. Maybe you can post some pics of these carriages? Glad you had your accident and found this great forum.

Welcome Vince!
Glad to see you stumbled upon this site. I'm hoping with the intro you gave, you take pics of your work on the cannons and can send some here.
