Opa is on a distinguished road

Default Mr.

Hello. I'm a retired Navy man, 74 yrs old, live on a small farm in South Dakota and my hobbies are my woodshop, which is fairly well equipped but not used enough, gardening, hunting, fishing, welding, some blacksmithing and other shop work, small engine repair, inventing toys for my grandkids, plus a whole lot more. Many of my hand tools I've inherited from deceased realtives and some might classify as antiques but I still call them tools and use them. I'm pretty new to router use and hope to get some answers from some of you. I have a 1/4 inch Craftsman router that was made when they were good tools and a pretty new Freud 1/2 inch plunge router. I hope to post a question and start getting answers. Opa

My thanks to Joe Lyden, Dave "the Doctor", Corey, Tom and Rolf for their kind welcome to the forum. I was quite frustrated with an effort to quickly reproduce a number of the same item. By reading some of the Forum threads I was encouraged to exercise my mind a bit and construct a jig to go with my patterns and I was able to deliver my finished project last night. God is in His heaven and all is right with the world. Some one asked how long I had been in the Navy. My career spanned 23 years. I started as an Airman Recruit at Great Lakes NTC in April of 1953. I retired as a Commander, Naval Aviator, on 1 Sept. 1976. Not too shabby for a High School graduate even if I do say so myself. My grandkids do call me Opa. Opa.
