| Registered User | Hello I'm Don G and I am a novice woodworker. I'm having a problem I hope your form can help me with. I have a newer Craftsman 31/2 plunge Router installed in my router table. Lowering it is no problem, but raising it is another thing, I'm not sure if the springs are to strong or what, but the last 1/4 or so of the raise is impossible, it just refuses to go any higher, unless I take it out of the table and plunge it by hand, which is a pain in the neck to do. Any suggestions Thanks Don G. |

| Forum Contributer Supreme Forum King | Hi Don You can do many things to make it easyer.. 1. would be remove the springs,,, ![]() 2. use a mounting base plate that you pop out router and change the bit and set the height on the top side of the router table. 3. get a router razier that you mount to your router and crank it up and down, they go for about 80.oo bucks.... 4. get a 2nd router for your router table and keep your plunge router for other hand type jobs. How to remove the spring, not for all routers but it will give you a hint how it's done. http://www.routerworkshop.com/mark1.html =========== Last edited by bobj3; 10-15-2007 at 05:38 PM. |

| Forum Contributer Supreme Forum King | There is a fifth method which in addition requires 1 and 4 of Bj's tips,ie; keep a dedicated router in the table with it's springs removed and follow this link to a thread by Nikki in Poland, it's simple but very effective. I'll try to also find the link showing how I adapted Nikki's idea to suit my table. I almost forgot to welcome you to router forums Don. http://www.routerforums.com/table-mo...ove-table.html
