Hello, My name is Rich and I have been woodworking on and off for the last 25yrs ( from high school shop class to working at home improvement stores to home projects). I have started doing small projects to medium projects with my 9yr old daughter. She's daddies girl. Our next project is a chess table and I need to learn how to make dovetail joints for the drawers. I have a porter cable plunge router and a freud 1/4" dovetail bit. But I do not know how to make a dovetail joint with a router. Can someone help me? Thanks Rich...

Welcome Rich. I'm sure some of the other guys will be happy to point you in the right direction for a dovetail jig to suit your routers. Let's see some pictures of the results when you've made it.

Welcome Rich!
There are probably hundreds of dove tail jigs available (Rockler.com, Woodcraft.com, etc. to name a couple of sources). Just do some searching around to find one you might like. Try doing a search on Google for dovetail jigs. In the mean time the following site might give you a start....

http://www.newwoodworker.com/dovetails.html

Good luck, hope this helps.

Oak-Park sells a nice jig set for dove tails and box joints.
www.oak-park.com

Incra also makes a fence system that I, and others have. Nice setup.
http://www.incra.com/product_rtf_main.htm

Either system will make dove tails.
