Talking New member in Kemah, Texas

Hello to all the forum members. I am new to the forums but very excited by the wealth of information that is clearly available. I am a Brit who has lived in Texas since 1996, have my own business and recently started a new venture, wooden automata kits. I have been obsessed with boats and wood for years and am currently setting up a small shop and realising that mistakes are easy to make, that is what promted me to find the forum. In my head I have a huge list of things I want to do and it is a case of conatining my enthusiasm. I wouyld like to learn enough to manufacture our little wooden automata here in the US at some stage in the future but I realise this is a tall mountain to climb. Any advice will be received with gratitude and thanks to the administators for a great forum.

Welcome to the Router Forums Mel. I am assuming that an (automata) is some kind of wooden boat? Just for us in the dark, what is an automata? Do you have any pictures of one? If so please post one or two. Keeps Harry happy.

How's the coast of Texas treating you mdavis?

I spent a few years in the Houston area myself before coming to Dallas. It's a wonderful place. Great weather, and beaches withing an hour drive. I was born in Freeport...so I know the are pretty well.

You are a welcome close to home voice!

Default What is an automaton

All

Thanks for the great welcome replies. An automaton a device that generates movement form some form of power supply ranging from a hand crank to an electric motor and through a series of cam/levers works in our case a model. Is it possible to post a url in a reply?
I have attached a picture but you really need to see the movement to appreciate them best.
Thx
Mel

Very Cute crank toys Mel

Nice job

You will need to post 10 times b/4 you can post a URL link, it's made that way to stop spam posting..

You can post the address and just leave out the www , http, and the .com part of the address and I sure most will get it..

e.g. routerforums.xxx/

Just tell us what should be put in the " xxx " web command call..
