| Registered User | I'm Larry and just joined today. I would like to say hello to everyone. My first question is what router and router table do you recommend for a beginner. I'm just getting started and need some advice. Thanks, Larry |

| Registered User Supreme Forum King | Hello Larry, welcome to the forums. For some, building there own table is the way to go, for others, a store bought one. As for routers, there are so many out there, just depends on what you intend on doing. I'm sure others will jump in and give you some better ideas.

| Forum Contributer Supreme Forum King | HI Larry Ken is right on the only thing I would add is don't go over board with your 1st setup get the best you can but if the bug bits you will want a better one I'm sure... try and stick with a brand name one that you can get addon items for it.. from just about any woodworkers store out let..you can find many great deals on routers but it's only a machine and they do need parts now and then.. ========== Quote:

Can you give us a little more info on what you intend to us it for? If you plan on making panel doors in the end, go with a 3+hp router. Otherwise Craftsman has a combo set that gives you a plunge and fixed base router. As for tables. There are some nice tables available too. Some of us like a plain simple table, nothing fancy. So many options. Good luck with your search.

| Retired Moderator Supreme Forum King | Welcome to the Router Forums Larry. I say keep it simple. Buy a good top with a plate and a decent 2 HP range router and you will be happy. The Craftsman 2 HP 2 base router is a great place to start. Can't be beat for 119.00 Corey
