| Registered User New Member | I have some oak chairs that I stained and polyed awhile back. I just bought a maple table and would like to sand the chairs down and re-stain in a darker maple stain and re-poly. Is this possible? I paid alot for them and would like to keep them. Thanks. |

| Registered User Forum King | Hi dms. I'm in the process of stripping some cedar chairs and the easiest way I've found is a commercial dip-stripping operation to remove both the poly and original stain. Costs over here about NZ50.00 (+/-US$60.00) per chair. Anything else (self stripping, sanding etc.) is long hard work with so,so finish. Maybe some of our finishing experts have other ideas.
