Hi Big Guy

I would say it's bit over kill,,,
Digital Readouts are nice but some times are to read in most shops
Sometimes you need to put your nose right on the readout to see them..it would be nice if they came in red or yellow, white numbers so you could read them.

You have to remember the with digital readers, it is calculating the saw blade angle againt the shop floor and not the blade.

I'm purchasing something similar that allows you to zero to the table top so the saw blade will be for instance a true 45 deg. against the table top, not the ground. To me that makes sense. I'll let you know how it works out when I get it.

Ed......:-)

I have a Wixey and it works great for more than just on the table saw. It is NOT just in relation to the floor. Example: place it on the saw table, turn it on and zero to the table , then place on the saw blade and the reading is in relation to the table, not the floor. I have used it on my drill press and miter saw and even used it to check the fences on my jointer, table saw and router. So, IMHO it is a very versatile tool. There are probably a lot more things I haven't discovered yet. I even bought the Wixey for my planer and that works great too.
The only negative so far is the cost, but then it seems everything is over priced these days.

I also agree with George on the Wixey digital angle guage. I bought one about 6 or 8 months ago,, and am still finding new uses for it. I seen one of the big wood working Magazines a couple of months back testing Table saws, or miter Guages or something,, I forgot exactly what it was, but they were using the Wixey for their readings. It seems to be very accurate. It reads to the 1/10 of a degree. Harborfreight is selling their version of a digital angle guage, right now on sale for $24.95 I think,, I ordered one, and was going to put it next to the Wixey to see if it reads the same numbers. But when the order showed up,, the angle guage was back ordered. The read out is very large and easy to read. I seen a Wixey angle guage go for just $27 + about $6 shipping a couple of weeks ago, Which was a great deal.

I have not bought the Wixey digital thickness guage yet, I was thinking of trying to retrofit a cheap digital caliper to the side of my planer, but it pobably would make more sense to just spend the extra $25 for the Wixey and forget it. But it would sure be nice to step up to that accuracy, that the Wixeywould provide.

I live 5 minutes from HF, I'm going on Sunday to have a look if they have those gauges.
Anyone want one? I can pick up a few and then post them out
