| Registered User New Member | I will be working at a campground in New York this summer. The owner wants to make name signs for campers as they check into the campground. Can anyone direct me to a source of information about sign making. Goes without saying that he will want to do this as cheaply as possible. All suggestions greatly appreciated. This is a great forum! |

| Registered User Dedicated Member | andy i also do signs in our park & i have to different ways of doing this with the templates. i do the indented letters so far but i am going to be trying the raised letters this summer. the first template set was by vermont american & is 1 letter at a time setup. when doing signs with 2 rows it was ok but if you wanted to do more than the 2 rows on larger boards i didnt like it. i next purchased the milescraft sign lettering kit & i like it a lot better. i did a couple of modifications to their setup & it works ok. the milescraft plastic rail brackets i mounted to approx. 16" boards & i just slide them down the sides of the sign for the different lines on the sq. or rect. boards. this helps to keep the letters sq. on the sign. if u decide to go with this method i will give you my email addess & send you some pics of the signs i have made. i havent tried posting pictures on this site as it is one of my " round 2 it" projects. les. |

| Registered User New Member | Ken, Thanks for the welcome. Bobj3 - thanks for the links. Les: Your method sounds like it would work for me. Could you send me some pictures of your work? I am not too clear on the size of the router bits and the bearings that go with them. If you're routing a 5/8 board, what would you use to make a V groove letter? Your help is greatly appreciated. |

| Registered User Jr. Member | Looks like you guys are in the same boat as me. I am a Park Ranger, and we needed some signs made for the parks. I didn't know anything about Routers, except that I needed one to make signs. I didn't know that they made templates for the letters, so I just penciled them on the boards and freehand routed them into the wood. I don't know a lot about what I'm doing, but I'm learning. Thanks for the links. If I post this right, this is my first sign made last week-- |

| Registered User Forum King | Looks like a very nice sign for the first time. I like the free hand style. The park is very scenic, it most be great to be a park ranch. Also looks like a good place to fish.

| Registered User Forum King | Andy; Are you talking about name badges instead of signs?
