| Registered User New Member | Hello all. I have a Freud FT2000 VCE that turns on but the speed control is very eratic. I am guessing the speed control module is the problem. Has anyone had similar problem, and is it easy to fix if I can get the part from Freud. Phil |

Welcome to the group. Replacing the module is really simple. I recommend that you call our Power Tool Parts and Repair Dept. at (800) 334-4107 (option #3) and they can help determine if the module is the problem and give you advice and parts costs. | |

| Registered User New Member | Thank you everyone for the welcome. Charles,I called Freud tech service and was told the speed control module for my router ( I have the older blue one) was no longer available. But I was told to check the brushs also. I called a local tool repair shop and explained the problem, and he told me he could bypass the speed control and run the router like that. If I did this I would probably not be able to use this machine for raised panel doors , correct? Thanx for al replies Phil |

| Registered User Supreme Forum King | You definetly want to slow those large bits down. Perhaps an external speed control would work.

| Forum Contributer Supreme Forum King | Hi pedixon You may want to pickup this one for the part you need..it still may have a good speed control device the price is right. if you are in the UK ?And I would agree with Ken ( "Perhaps an external speed control would work.") once it's been bypassed...(rewired) a 10.oo dollar fix so to speak. http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=43060 ========= http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Non-Working-FR...742.m153.l1262 ============ Quote:

| Registered User Forum Fanatic | Phil, Bypassing the module will make the tool run but it will be running a 29,000RPM which is too fast for the tool to last for long and definitely too fast for any but the smallest 1/4" and smaller bits to safely turn. |

| Registered User New Member | Thanx for all replies again. Bobj3 I like your Harbour Freight idea, but I was wondering,if I bypass my speed control would my router still be considered a soft start router. The Harbor Freight control does not work with soft start machines. I would ask Harbour Freight this but I have an idea I would confuse them. You guys are great help. Thanx Phil |
