I just took the plunge (pun intended) and bought my first router for a project I'm working on. I want to hollow out a large area of a coffee table top. I want to take off about 3/8" of hardwood over an area of 16" x 30".
In reading the threads on here for "flat surface" I came across the idea of a router sled. Is this the best way to accomplish my goal?

I'd like to thank everyone on this forum in advance, you are an amazing resource.

The router "sled" should work just fine for what you're trying to accomplish.
