Default Cool place here!

What a cool forum. I am not a card carrying router freak yet but I am working on it. I only have 4 but I don't have all the model numbers memorized.

I had 7 until recently when a certain buddy of mine who to this day I have not met, determined he needed to help me organize my shop. He thought it was too crowded and so he lessened my on-going organizational burden and freed up considerable more floor space for me all at the same time. He did all this at no charge! I have asked my local constable to please introduce me to this right honourable gentleman some day.

I guess my favorite router is the one I have in my hands knocking off the stuff hiding the profile or edge I'm freeing at the time. I love jigs. Mostly homemade ones I come up with and see elsewhere and knock off. But I own a couple store bought ones too like the STOTS template master and the kehoe jig.

I used to have a Leigh, but the guy who helped me organize my shop is using it now. If I knew where he lived I'd show him how to cut dovetails with human fingers. His. Not that I will miss the Leigh too much. I never did get to where I liked it. I'm not knocking it really, I just like stuff that is simple.

I love this STOTS, and for the money you can't beat it. No this is not a commercial it's just that for $40 it will do most anything any of us ever want to do. The Kehoe I bought at a woodshow and this thing is like crack. You get started using it and you are hooked. I'm glad my organizing pal didn't happen across them when he was tidying things up. Between the STOTS and the Kehoe I can achieve virtually any look I desire.

Mostly though, I like to make jigs almost to the point that, if I can ever figure out one to market, I would love to design the jig necessary to make those jigs.

Sorry for the verbose and rambling intro, it's way past my bedtime. Looks like I am about to learn alot here, there's a TON of stuff on this site. I am overwhelmed.

Cheers, Simon.

Welcome Simon, glad to have you here. You have a good sense of humor! Not easy to keep it when you get ripped off like that. Hope you enjoy the forums!

Hey Simon, welcome to the forums. Glad you decided to join us. Sorry to hear about your shop clean up event. To me, a thief is one of the lowest forms of life on earth and should be treated as such.

G'day Simon and welcome to the forum. You might not be a card carrying router freak but you sound like you're about ready to come out of the closet any time soon and join the rest of us. Enjoy.
