| Registered User | hello tracker, I also am in the dark about pantographs, but have built one by copying the dementions of a small version of a childs toy. My main problem is keeping the router from scueing out of square from the pointer, and also figuring out how to raise the router out of the wood between letters. I'm sure it's only a matter of time before I get it worked out, but for now I'm looking for more information on most everything about it. When I get it working I will contact you, here. | Forum Contributer Supreme Forum King | Welcome to the forums gents ( I don't know you Christian names), all the hobby type pantographs that I have come across are not worth giving house room to they are so flimsy, perhaps in other parts of the world they have something better. Have you not thought about hand routing your signs, I and quite a number of members have produced works of art by this method. Basically you design the sign in the computer, I used Corel Print House but most computers come with a suitable programme, I then print it out full size and with carbon paper beneath draw around the outline then follow the steps in my thread by clicking on this link. The skis are not necessary but do make it easy, other members make a large transparent base for the router. http://www.routerforums.com/portable...hand-sign.html

| Registered User Forum King | Harry is right. Hand routing is easier. My sister-in-law has a pantograph and I wouldn't give a wooden nickel for the thing.

| Forum Contributer Supreme Forum King | Hi marquyt They are made for light duty jobs but not made to hang a router on one end of the pointer, Sears /Craftsman made many of them for the home shop and they are just toys, they will copy a pattern to the wood but at that point it's best to get your trim router out and finish the job.. duplication instrument Modern versions of pantographs can be found in many toy stores. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pantograph ========= Quote:
