| Registered User New Member | Hi, I've got big problems with the type of wood I'm using. Trying to make indoor decorative signs for the first time. |

| Registered User Forum King | G'day gracewriter and welcome. Do you know what type of wood it is?

| Registered User Supreme Forum King | Another consideration is where you buy the wood. I've found the big box stores seem to have very dry, and brittle wood. What type of router bits are you using? Are you taking a deep cut?

| Registered User New Member | thanks for your responses. I'm still waiting on the parts to my router. I've never used it (got it for Christmas five years ago but didn't know how to use it) and my husband managed to lose the base plate. Im going to have a friend show me how to use it, then I'll be able to answer that question. Looks like I'm going to have to use MDO. Anyone know how well a router can cut that? I'm thinking I can fill in the holes with something and paint over it. My signs are too big to use anything other than plywood. Not sure they even make actual wood that big and no doubt couldn't afford it. |

| Registered User New Member | I was using sandeply. Warped it because I didn't know you were supposed to paint both sides. Ruined seven panels. I brough some MDO home and stacked it in my office, hopefully it'll stay straight. In any event apparently it was made for signmakers. So we'll see. The sandeply warped before I got it home. Unbeleiveable. |

| Registered User Supreme Forum King | I'm assuming you are using Medium Density Outdoors board similar to MDF. That stuff will eat router bits if you take too big of bites with it. Moving the router slower will burn the wood, but if you're painting it, that won't matter.
