Default Hullo My name is Peter..

Hullo, my name is Peter, I live in Western Australia. Started woodworking about 3 years ago: I "rewarded' myself for the final completion of a long and extensive production project. I purchased a Triton saw table...

..er and then a router table.. my old 7 1/2 in saw wasn't up to it.. Oh yeah
I purchased a Triton saw.. then a GMC router. then......it goes on in I guess a familiar pattern of occasional recreation use and descent into full addiction.

I now have a Trtion router.. dust extractor, bandsaw, .. jointer.. and a thicknesser.. plus all the gear that goes into a workshop... you get the picture.

I am an enthusiast. And I am blessed with a most marvellous wife.. who encourages me and when I go to the tool shop .. I say.."my wife wants me to buy this..." ..I kid you not....

Have built a few things . but major project is kitchen(s) and bathroom(s) rennovation...we have two of each in our home...

I am working with recycled jarrah... i buy from salvage yards, remove nails..
rip, joint and produce beautiful cabinet timber out of fairly rough looking weathered timber (Jarrah was used in WA for pretty much any building both interior and exterior.. so there is lots of old stuff in salvage yards..)..

I produce my own 3mm veneers as well from this material..

Oh yeah I have a good metal detector... actually I have a number of good metal detectors ..but the electronic one is far cheaper than the mechanical, high rev blades that I previously used.

About 6 weeks ago I finally and absolutely got disgusted with the performance of my triton router table. I stopped work on the jarrah benchtops that I was trying to make.. and decided then and there to get a system that would not destroy my painstaking and meticulous preparation ....

so I went incra.. Imported direct from the US.. a 25 inch super system..
built a router table and cabinet... (still working on the final touches of the cabinet...).. yes it is made from jarrah.. and mdf...oh yeah got a woodpecker aluminium plate and inserts and good American Eagle bits... and ... yeah some other stuff .. like the Incra measuring system... Having to go back from metric to 15/64ths is a bit of pain..but it is pain that I am happy to live with..

I am just over the moon with my new router table n cabinet.. and I cannot say enough in praise of the Incra system.. when you buy something that just impresses out of the box.. and is so well constructed and you can feel the thought and workmanship.. to say I am happy with it is an understatement.. will post pics of my system sometime in the future.

I want to learn and exchange ideas and opinions... oh and all I meant to say was: hi.. i am peter .. heheh

Welcome Peter. You must be fairly close to one of our top contributors, Harrysin from Perth. Use a bit of jarrah myself. Let's see some of your work when you can post pics.

G'day mate and welcome to the Router Forums. Thank you for the intro Peter, wish more new members would do the same. Where in Western Australia are you located?

Thanks Chaps....
I live in Mandurah .. a coastal tourist town..about 70 kms south of Perth .. a place that has grown from a small place of 8000 or so to something over 70,000 in the almost 30 yrs I have known it.. Gone from a place where pensioners used to catch heaps of fish off the old traffic bridge.. to a place of multimillion dollar canal homes and marinas...(sigh). I am late everywhere I go here these days
