Hi Folks,
My name is Andy (as you can probably tell from my username). I'm 48 years old, married and we have two boys. I'm a technology specialist by trade. I recently built a vacuum tube based guitar amplifier. Since I built the amp myself I wanted to build the cabinet myself as well. I decided to try to tackle a cabinet with Dovetail joints. I haven't done much of anything with woodworking before other than rather pedestrian stuff, like building a simple workbench. Anyway, I built the cabinet for the amp, and it came out pretty well. Now I have the bug and want to do more.
I had a large garage built last year, and a third of the space is for a workshop. I'm starting to put together a decent collection of tools. My eight year old son saw a book on making chess pieces with a scroll saw, so I picked up a used scroll saw on Craigslist, and now we're working on making a chess set together.
Anyway, I'm anxious to learn all I can from more seasoned woodworkers, so that's why I am here!
Here's a couple shots of the cabinet I just built. It's a pretty modest project compared to what many of you have done, but I'm pleased with how it came out as my first real effort. It's got me fired up to do more!
Thanks for letting me join your board and learn something!
Andy
