| Registered User | I'm Mike Lanahan, and new to the Router Forum. In the last couple weeks I have thrown out my first router, a really old Black & Decker 1/4", because I could no longer stand the terrible screaching from the bad bearings when it shuts down. So much for nostalgia. Also my 2 HP Bosch plunge, usually mounted in a table, is in for repair, after I tried to treat it nicely by blowing it off and blowing out all the accumulated dust, then it refused to start. So much for treating it nice for a change. I'm currently dead in the water and decided to bite the bullet and get a dedicated router for the table. My on-line search for information from which to select a new router led me here. So far, I'm leaning toward the Bosch 1617, and the RA1165 under table base. Mike Lanahan |

| Forum Moderator Supreme Forum King | Hi Mike and welcome to the forum. Sounds like you have had your hands full with router failure lately. The Bosch 1617 seems to be a good choice with others here I personally have the DeWalt 618 and have been very happy with it installed in my router table although I may opt to change it out to the 625 down the road and put the 618 to use as a hand held just to make life easier. Hope you will continue to participate with the friendly group we have here.

| Senior Moderator Supreme Forum King | All the new 1617's come with the over the table height adjustment. Just be sure you don't buy a new unit that is "old stock".
