Default Looking for advice

Hello all,

I found this forum while doing some research on different routers and thought I'd throw out a couple questions.

I'm looking at do some kitchen remodling and doing the countertops and other work myself. I'm very interested in using the "PaperStone" product, and wondering what experience others have had with it. You are supposed to be able to use regular wood working tools on it.

Also, with all the money I'll save doing to the work myself, I get the chance to buy the tools to do the job. I've always been pretty handy, but have never had the need to buy a bunch of tools until now. I very interested in what the best router would be for a job like this. 2HP, 2 1/4HP, 3HP?? There are alot of different options out there, but I don't want to buy something that would be way oversized.

Anyway, thanks in advance for the help.

Welcome Triumph1.
IMHO, a 2 1/4 plunge/fixed combo would probably be a good choice. Some of the guys on this site are recommending the Sears combo, but it depends on what you want to spend and what feels right to you. The 2 1/4 is enough power to handle any size bit you would ever need for hand work and not as hard to handle as the big honking 3hp models. It would also be a good size for table mounted work, if needed in the future.

Hi triumph1

George is right on the button and I would 2nd. to what he posted...

Paperstone uses 100% post-consumer recycled paper and is environmentally friendly but I have NOT used it but maybe some one on the forum has.
