Default Oak Park Spacers

I just tired using the 1/4 inch spacer. My results weren't very good.

I measured the 1/4 inch white plastic (poly?) portion of the Oak Park Spacer and find it is not 1/4 inch, but a little less.

Would this matter?

Thanks

Steve,

As long as the gap between the fence and the bit is 1/4 inch you should be OK. you only need to register the one side of the fence. If your joints are too loose or too tight, tap the fence closer or further from the bit. One thing I found early on is that you have to have the fence clamped down tight. If it slips during the cutting process, some of your fingers will fit, others won't.

Do you think the type of bit matters?

Thanks

Spiral bits work the best, I've had some blow out with 2 flute straight cutters. If that is all you have, you can sandwich the good pieces between two scrap pieces, and the blow out will be on the scrap.
