Jigs and Fixtures This area will be directed towards the art of designing specific jigs and fixtures. Bob and Rick say, "if the specific operation is to make more than one piece the same size and shape then chances are you need a jig and/or fixtures."

Default Saw Table Crosscut sled

I have been doing cad files for some time and there is a new 3D cad program that has been out on the net for a couple of years (called sketchup). Its a free program and I downloaded it to see how good it is. I was impressed that it was so easy to use and how quickly I was able to turn out a 3D image of this saw table crosscut sled. Its a free program, it can't get cheaper then that.

Hi Tale Gunner,
Nice drawings. SketchUp is not new. It's been around for quite a while. In fact, if you check out the Fine Woodworking web site, they have a blog site there on SketchUp called "Design, Click, Build" in which you can learn a lot about how to use the program.
