| Registered User Supreme Forum King | A funny thing happen it the shop today. The other day I was updating some of my vacuum lines to make room for my newer tools, always a major spring undertaking. Since my shop has to be mobile to fit all the tools in and still be able to walk one has to be creative to do things. As you might recall from past posts my shop is really just a part of a garage. A car has not seen the inside since 1984 so it is not a mater of moving the car out to work or anything like that…. It is just we have no basement so the garage becomes storage of all that has no other place. I’m getting off the story, sorry. Well when I went in the shop today and started puttering around. Got a bunch of tools from the four corners of the garage plus what had migrated into the house over winter and collected them to be put away. I also got all the boxes on nails and screws, brads, screw caps, nails for the nailer, nuts and bolts…. All sorts of stuff to put away. My mind was wondering away like it does now a days and for a break I thought I would test out the new vacuum set-up. I guess I must have forgotten to tighten all the clamps as when it started up I could hear a high pitch whistle. I got out my little stepladder and climbed up where I thought the noise was coming from and give a little pull on the hose. Well with no real line suction the hose popped right off! The good news was that it didn’t fall down where all the tools and nails and things were but it did grab on to my leg. I almost fell but got a hand on the ceiling to steady myself. I decide it was safest to climb down before anything else happened. On my way down I guess I pulled a little too much the vacuum hose slipped up and got my loose shirttail and sucked it in. I tried to pull it back out but it was to my backside and try as I might it wasn’t coming loose. I was almost all the way down when the hose caught on a self and started tipping stuff off…. I reached to catch my sawsall and that’s when I tipped off the ladder falling sideways on to the collection of tools and boxes of nails and screws. During the fall another hose pulled off the ceiling and it to clamped on to me. I was in a small amount if discomfort but it was only a short fall and I couldn’t feel any real pain. I started to try and get up but then I remembered I had taken off the separator and if any of this stuff started getting sucked up it was good-bye impeller. Trying to hold the hose and get up was not working. I was trying to figure out what I was going to do when the wife came to check on me after all the noise…. Good thing we have an attached garage! I ask her to shut off the vacuum but she was having trouble hearing me over all her laughter. When she dried her eyes she said she would but….. I had been spending way to much time with the tools and not enough with her, plus I had been having way to much fun spend money on new ones. She did have a point there. She then said I had to sell all my tools and take up a sane hobby that was cheap, like reading books. So the sad news is I have to sell all my tools and start reading books…… The good news is that it is April Fools Day and none of this happened. So did I suck you in on the story?
