Default Amazon FBA

Is anyone selling their projects on Amazon? I'm looking into selling on Amazon and have a couple of products in mind. It occurred to me that some members here may already be selling their creations or if not yet may be interested in starting.
I hope I'm not violating forum policy by posting this here. Moderators please forgive me and delete this if so. If not others comment and let me know what you think. Do you have a product idea?

I confess I didn't even know you could...

Our plan is to launch an Etsy shop soon but selling on Amazon might be pretty cool, too.

My wife's old boyfriend told me about it about two weeks ago. He designed a cheep thing of plastic, imported it from China, sent it to Amazon and is making about $1000 month profit. He told me about a podcast which teaches how to do it. The Amazing Seller ? Successful Amazon Sellers There are 330+ episodes, I've listened to about 70 of them so I have a pretty good understanding of the process now. I'm still listening to them and plan to listen to all 330+ before diving in deep. Most people doing this are importing from China because the cost of goods is so low compared to US made goods. I'm not completely opposed to this model but I'd much rather find an American made product. I've got a couple ideas for something I could produce but don't really have the time to make and sell. I've got a few local friends with products they are not selling on Amazon now, one with a laser engraver, so I'm trying to find something he can make in smaller batches to test the market.
I also have a couple of product (invention) ideas but I can see they won't sell very well since there is very little market for it, I don't want my first FBA experience to also be a new invention promotion experience too. I've thought a couple of times about Otis, @OPG3 , here. Isn't he an accomplished inventor?

From what I hear Amazon is pretty demanding on product supply and shipping. I've got an Etsy store, but they have undergone a "change" in a lot of their policys, ie they want more $$ to feature your stuff and put it ahead of others. Been a lot of complaining, but holidays are usually when orders are generated. But it's awful hard to get noticed and seen with 5000 other similar products. Check out Custommade.com. Forget Ebay for things you make.

I don't see any issues with this thread. I'm guessing a number of us are interested in what you find out and yes Otis is an inventor. Also member Patlaw (Mike) is a patent attorney (patent lawyer).

Someone I consider a master woodworker once told me that a master woodworker is not someone who never makes mistakes. He is someone who is able to cover them up so that no one can tell.

John, you may have said before but what's your Etsy shop name? We should have ours open within the next month if I can ever get a couple of things finished so I can add photos.

Yes, I sell FBA and FBM through Amazon. The amazing seller is a good place to start.
There is a lot to getting set up, sku's, packaging requirement, listing, and the like.
It really is my wife and son who handle this but I have a basic understanding and I hear it when the frustration level peak.
A also sell through Etsy. Amazon is by far better. Currently we sell roughly 1 unit a day.

What are your questions?

Cool. Are you selling your own products, from USA or imported?

I've been selling on Amazon for 3 years using the online arbitrage model. After 6 months, I saw the potential, so I sold my business & now do Amazon full time. If I can help, ask.
